Working with Me

A therapist’s style can be hard to capture in a block of text. That’s why I recommend every client starts by scheduling a free 15-minute consultation. But I try to offer every client…

  • Compassionate Connection: I have lived with ADHD, depression, and suicidal thoughts and cared for those living with mental illness in my own family. I draw from these experiences to create a space filled with empathy, compassion, and dad jokes.
  • Research-Backed Techniques: As an Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester and an Investigator at the VA Center of Excellence for Suicide Prevention, clients can be assured my work is informed by current scholarship.
  • Personalized Approach: Instead of following a set plan, I select strategies to meet you where you are. If we’re doing our work right, “where you are” will change every frew sessions, so I also make sure to keep on adjusting my approach as you grow.
  • Expertise in Complex Relationships: It can be frustrating if your therapist is unfamiliar with — or worse avoids — relationship violence, non-monogamy, or suicide risk in couples. I not only embrace these themes in my work, but have published on them!
